Few cities can compete with the magical atmosphere of York over the yuletide season. All of us who work here love the city, and we are now in the full swing of festive joy! Exploring the cities ancient streets is a joy at this time of year, and a stroll around the city walls will give you an eagle’s view of the bustling markets.
The famous and fabulous St Nicholas Faye runs until the 23rd of December. For me this is definitely my favourite event. You can do a bit of Christmas shopping, finding those unique gifts for loved ones and of course have a glass or two of mulled wine or cider when you just have to stop for refreshment.
If you’re feeling a bit more active, it may be time to get your skates on, because York’s three-time award-winning festive ice skating event returns to York Designer Outlet from 19th November to 2nd January.
On New Year’s Eve, York Minster is justifiably THE place to be, as the bells ring out to mark midnight. The city centre does get crowded though, so make sure you book a table for dinner, and wear a warm coat if you are planning on being outside!
Once you’re back at the B+B, with the nights drawing in, the radiators are back on full, making sure that you can unwind after a long day out in the cold. With complimentary tea and coffee our bar always seems welcoming after being on your feet all day.
